On Bandersnatch we had an important number of scenes to shoot, due to the many outcomes. We needed to make sure that the continuity of the show was in line. It was a different process from other productions, because the script was obviously a lot longer, but it was fascinating.

We had to keep flipping script pages back and to choose a certain outcome point. This was made easier for us, thanks to the software “Twine”; this helped us create a reliable and interactive script.

The episode was hard to digest because of its length and various outcomes, but it was really interesting to work on the idea, that the viewer would become, in some form, an active part of the episode. Every choice of the viewer would have an impact, big or small, from choosing a simple box of cereals to choices with deeper meaning and heavier consequences.

Production of the 5th series of Black Mirror was quite intense. At times, individual episodes would slightly overlap and be at different stages of production, making it tricky to juggle logistics in the work environment. The job is about staying on top of everything, which is a challenge in itself.

I love my job; I never stop learning as each project is different. You must prioritize all your actions and adapt to your environment, it’s really gripping.

Each working day throws different challenges, so I needed to make sure that everything was organized and up to date. This helps keep me on my toes, because I never really know what each day entails and that is why I really enjoy working on a high-class drama production such as Black Mirror.

I am enjoying working with my current team, I learn a lot from them and hope to become as great of professionals as they are. I always do my best to enjoy the present time and to learn as much as I can!

I had already worked with SetKeeper before Black Mirror. We created the distribution list, daily. Our Production Coordinator would have a base distro list saved for the daily call, so if, for example additional riggers or animals handlers needed to be added to the distribution list, we could ensure the whole crew got their call sheets, every evening.

We used SetKeeper on Black Mirror to send out all of our confidential documents. It was very helpful because we could create different lists for the different episodes. We had crew members that were working on various episodes, so from an organizational point of view, you could send them only the documents that concerned them directly.

SetKeeper’s messaging feature is incredibly useful, whenever I needed a crew member to be confirmed, the first thing I would do was to make sure they were on the right list, so they would receive the relevant documents and information. SetKeeper is also helpful if you do get an email slightly wrong, in the analytics it will show you, if it had been delivered or not.

If not, you can choose to duplicate the message and resend it, or simply modify it. SetKeeper enables you to see the different sending stages of your message, when it was sent, when it was received and finally when it was opened. It was very convenient for us, because we sent out around 20 documents a week, so we could keep on top of distribution really easily.
